FROM MUSIC AND MADNESS II

I long for him, who can unfold me into the frail fragments of truth beneath. Who can see beyond the verbosity of my language, a tacit taxonomy meant to protect the curious and crucial from the false and vociferous, not by faux identification nor by empirical action, but by accession of the clandestine message. I am laid bare now, here, by choice and circumstance. For the solitary method one can find another is by being found himself.

I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess

'Til all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink, so
Tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time
Don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

My God
Amazing that we got this far
It's like we're chasing all those stars
Who's driving shiny big black cars

And everyday I see the news, all the problems that we could solve
And when a situation rises, just write it into an album
Seen it straight to go
I don't really like my flow, no, so

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time
Don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Oh, got no reason, got not shame
Got no family I can blame
Just don't let me disappear
I'mma tell you everything

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time
Don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time
Don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

All my secrets away
All my secrets away

@soltero I love this song too. Not because its featured in The Sorcerer's Apprentice (in fact that kind of diluted the gravity of the song for me) but because the lyrics are so well-written and meaningful, and its from one of my favorite bands. I knew of this song way before it was used in the movie.

Thanks dude. Although may I point out, (1) you are older than me, and (2) I merely interpreted the profundity of the lyrics. Thanks!

i love what you wrote. and pardon me - in a very shallow way, this also applies to being able to understand the underlying meaning of your post :) it is beautiful.

I actually like your interpretation more than OneRepublic's lyrics! Heheh. It captures exactly the state of my heart now. :D

The song is just another heuristic attempt at explicating the cliche that is "Desiderata", and effectively so without sounding run-of-the-mill mawkish. Your ekphrastic preamble in and of itself nevertheless merits rereads, too.
