RED IS THE NEW BLACK

Avatarrandom rantings and rabid retorts of a socially-retarded, decidedly high-strung, renewed romantic

arias of the annum - somewhere only we know

FROM MUSIC AND MADNESS II

I used to believe that speaking the same language is requisite to finding true connection, that communication resides in the blanket of words, of thoughts, and of ideas and beliefs. But often, speaking the same language is not enough, because even if there is congruency, there is also an inadequacy, of the language to explore what is really meant, and expound what is actually done.

Somewhere, beyond the distanciation of time, of belief and action, there is a place I can go to. There I am whole once more, and perfection is not an illusion. But I cannot let you in to that place; merely narrate and describe as far as my vocabulary will afford. My reality may be dark and desolate, but there, here, in the words of a language esoteric and lost, I can attempt to take you.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
So why don't we go

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know

This could be the end of everything,
So why don't we go,
Somewhere only we know,
Somewhere only we know,
Somewhere only we know.

@Sean I love this song too. Not only the lines I highlighted, but the whole tone and timbre and the totality of its libretto. I identify with the lyrics so deeply. Glad you liked it.

according to plato (or socrates... sorry, i forgot), if you find the one who finishes your thoughts, dont let him/her go.

speaking the same language, i say, is not a requirement.

how are you, red?

@the geek I believe the quote from Plato is "Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet."

I must agree, I realized by experience, that it is not a requisite, and may actually be a deterrent sometimes.

I'm good, my friend. As I'm sure you very well are. :)

One of my favorite songs. :)

This is my favorite entry of yours, Red. This is too beautiful. I've been wanting to say few of those words for quite some time but couldn't find the courage to say so. My heart is pounding on the eloquence and gravity of this entry. =)

nice. sometimes it's those silent moments you share together that are the most poignant. no words are needed. it just is. =)

@karla And that silence, is sufficient. +)
